Afterword: Sharpsburg MD to Harpers Ferry WV Road Trip
You've already walked with me through Antietam National Cemetery, where that silence spoke louder than any words could. Remember those peaceful paths among the graves of thousands who fell in the single bloodiest day of the Civil War? We felt the weight of what happened there in September 1862 together. It's a place that demanded our respect and reflection.
From there, we wandered through downtown Sharpsburg, that town frozen in time. That old museum tucked inside the town hall building was a hidden gem, wasn't it? Packed with stories that brought this sleepy village's dramatic past to life!
Then we hit one of my favorite backroads—the C&O Canal towpath. That ribbon of dirt and history wound along the Potomac River, carrying us from Maryland into West Virginia through some of the most beautiful countryside we've seen together. After our night at the Harpers Ferry KOA, we were up early for an e-bike adventure!
The ride down to Harpers Ferry National Historical Park was spectacular. We crossed the Potomac on that old railroad bridge—the same route John Brown took on his fateful raid in 1859. The historic town clung to the hillside where two great rivers collided, with those Civil War-era buildings that looked like they were straight out of a history book. What an incredible journey we shared!

Then: Quartzsite Arizona 2025 - Whats New?
We took a ride around my hometown, Quartzsite, Arizona, together. I'm back for another winter season in this 2025/26 Snowbird paradise, and you came along for the journey.
You've been following all this year's travels right here with me.

Lastly: Quartzsite to Needles: Ancient Art & Desert History
You've already joined me on this incredible backroads adventure along the Colorado River from Quartzsite to Needles, and wasn't it amazing what we discovered together? While most folks blast right past these places on I-10, we took our time and found some seriously cool desert history!
Remember that FREE CAMPING spot we found at Morgantown off Exit 5? Right on the Colorado River, zero dollars—what a killer spot for RVers and van lifers! Then we walked through that pioneer cemetery in Ehrenberg together, where folks have been resting since the 1860s. Those weathered headstones told us stories of the Old West you just can't find in any history book.
When we crossed the river into Blythe, California, we cruised downtown and then headed north on US 95 to see something absolutely wild—the Blythe Intaglios. We got to see those massive geoglyphs carved into the desert floor over 2,000 years ago! Ancient desert art we walked right up to, and you know what? Most people still have no idea it exists.
Our final stop was Vidal, California, where we visited Wyatt Earp's actual cottage. Yeah, THAT Wyatt Earp! The legendary lawman spent his final years right there in that tiny desert town, and we got to see where he lived. What a journey we shared!

Thanks, all.

Tell us when you are in each area. It would help us plan our own visit to the areas. When were you along the canal? Looks like Aug, sept
Am watching your video Pipestone Minn., noticed you weren’t to far from Garretson S.D. There is a park where Jessie James supposedly jumped over a gorge after the robbery in Minnesota. Check it out.
After travelling to your wonderful country four times having unforgettable journeys and road trips I miss the experiences so much. Your fantastic videos have kept me in the loop now I cannot travel. Every week I am learning so much about US history, geography, customs and love of country. Thank you Russ.
Russ, will you tell us what month it is when you are recording a video? Sometimes it is helpful for viewers to know.
My late husband & I used to stay in Golden Valley, Az. during every Michigan winter. I’ve been to lots of places you visit and it brings back great memories! I really enjoyed the way you showed off our “Mighty Mac”! I was on that bridge during a blizzard after taking a ride on the “Snow Train”. They allowed us to be the last car to cross before they closed the bridge because of the storm. We had to stay on the inside lane with lights on and I have never been so terrified in my whole life! It’s pretty scary even on a nice day! You do an amazing job and I really enjoy watching all of your adventures! Thank you!
