Wyatt Earp

Wyatt Earp is an iconic figure of the American Old West, celebrated for his role as a lawman, gambler, and occasional gunfighter. Born in 1848 in Illinois, he would go on to become one of the most renowned lawmen of his time. Earp’s early career saw him working as a lawman in various Western towns, such as Dodge City, Kansas, and Tombstone, Arizona. In these lawless frontier towns, he served as a deputy sheriff, striving to maintain order in the face of rampant crime.

Earp is most famously remembered for his participation in the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral in 1881. This shootout pitted him, his brothers Virgil and Morgan, and the infamous Doc Holliday against a group of outlaws known as the Cowboys. The gunfight lasted only about 30 seconds but had a lasting impact on Western lore and Earp’s reputation. Though the Earps and Holliday prevailed, it did not fully quell tensions in Tombstone.
